Join us as we celebrate our 5th anniversary for an evening of food, music and community. Please support us as we continue our mission to support, empower and enrich the lives of women of African descent in the Milwaukee metropolitan area by providing educational, health, financial and networking opportunities. As we strive to enhance the well being of the woman, their families and the communities they live in, and as we foster relationships between people in our global village, MILAWA has elected to support the construction of a permanent bridge in Soppo Likoko – a village in Cameroon, Central Africa.

Soppo Likoko Bridge Project
This Project is a collaborative effort that will give people who live in the Soppo Likoko Village access to much needed health care services. Currently, there is a river that disconnects villagers from a nearby health care facility and the goal of the project is to have a bridge built that allows people and small vehicles to cross safely. The project is being undertaken by our sister group The Cream City (WI) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, the Engineers Without Borders Chapter of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Global Health Dialogue in Buea, Cameroon, as well as other local, national and international stakeholders. Through ticket sales and contributions, MILAWA will donate funds towards this project.
